Quick Hatch Green Chile Sauce

sauceingredients

Every summer, I countdown the days until the Hatch Green Chile Festival... It's usually at the end of August, and my Market Street brings out the big chile roasters to celebrate!  I end up buying bags of hatch chiles to freeze for the year... it's probably  my favorite weekend of the summer (wow, I *MIGHT* be lame), but I truly love the chance to stock up on the hatch chile deliciousness! Since I constantly have a stash of green chiles on hand in the freezer, I've really mastered the art of … [Continue reading...]

Hail Caeser… Salad!

caesar-feature-image

When the weather warms up, nothing beats a crisp, delicious bowl of greens!  I love Caesar Salad, but I'm not a big fan of store-bought Caesar Dressings ( some preservative in them gives me the shakes)... Instead, I like making my dressing from scratch, and this version is a lot easier than others I've found (who has time to coddle egg yolks?  Not this gal! ).  I also really like Greek yogurt, so I think this recipe is pretty fantastic. Creamy Caesar Salad Dressing 1/3 c. lowfat Greek … [Continue reading...]

Lunchbox to Mail Organizer

mailbox-feature-image

I found this “mailbox” lunch box at an antique store in town and instantly snapped it up…  I especially love the “Mr. Zip” on the side (hehe).  While I don’t take my lunch to work much these days, I did think that this could be the perfect vessel for housing outgoing mail…  We often write [...]

Eggs Over Medium

eggs over medium - barqueandbite.com

I love eggs.  A lot.  For breakfast, if there’s a choice between ANYTHING and eggs, I choose eggs.  Always. My trainer at the gym keeps trying to get me to switch to egg whites, but I just can’t make the leap.  I’m in an egg co-op, so every month I’m spoiled with amazing, huge, organic [...]

Brick Chicken

When asked for my favorite, go-to dinner when the weather warms up, this recipe immediately comes to mind. It’s simple but tasty and a real crowd-pleaser!  I’ve cooked what I lovingly refer to as “Brick Chicken” from holiday occasions like Father’s Day to Monday night dinner… it’s just downright delicious! Brick Chicken garlic (3-4 cloves), [...]

My Favorite Hallway

hall sm

I admit, I have a favorite corner of the house… Ok, technically it’s a hallway (a teeny tiny one).  It’s the 4×4 space that leads into the master bedroom. It’s not much,  but I pass by it more than any other area in my home on a daily basis. Since I moved in, that “hallway” [...]

Chicken & Dumpling Soup

chicken&dumpling soup - barqueandbite.com

I apologize for the lack of posts the past few weeks.  I’ve been sick, and that means no energy for anything other than what’s necessary.  Blogging might not have been, but cooking soup certainly has, so I thought you might enjoy one of the recipes I’ve been working on.  Being a Southern gal, I’ve heard [...]

Re-purposed Nesting Box Turned Planter

repurposedbox-feature-image

Last year, mom and I attended our first Fall RoundTop Antiques Fair just to “check it out”, but we were overwhelmed by the options – way too many great finds!  After much restraint, we ended up only buying what would fit in the car (err, or on it)… And that’s how we drove home with [...]

DIY Felt Bunny Napkin Rings

bunny feature image

Easter is almost here, and this fun, last-minute project was inspired by these burlap bunny napkin rings I saw at Pier 1.  With just a few supplies from the local craft store, this project was up and running in no time!  It’s really easy to do, and I think this could be a fun project [...]
